The Chasing Tales of Content Dave - Part 1 - Raw & Uninfluenced: An Impractical Introduction to an Ineffective Self-Help Tale

"A wannabe self-help writer and influencer, failing in his attempt to make a difference and be his best self. He may be full of fancy phrases, potent quotes and inspiring advice yet he can barely decide what to have for breakfast.” – Guru George’s critique.

“What you playing at, Guru George? This is where I exaggerate a need to read my book. Give it a positive promotion, will ya.” Content Dave pleaded.

“5 Star Waffle.” – Guru George's response/review.

"I suppose that'll have to do. Anyway, do you fancy giving me some new wisdom to share?" Content Dave was aware that he needed help if his self-help book was to be worthy of reading.

"Nope, we do not require any new gnosis. We need to simplify our current selves so a graceful life can naturally flow." Guru George clarified his simple stance.

Content Dave stays in pretty good physical shape, but trips over his own feet; lives a fairly long life, but goes against his own advice; and regularly contemplates consciousness, but never quite figures it all out. He meets up with his friend, Guru George, in a pub in the afterlife as they review his latest attempt at life and at writing a self-help book.

“You haven’t done too bad this time, mate.” Guru George said as he sipped his heavenly hops.

“Nice one, Guru George. Your compliments carry a lot more weight in the afterlife.” Content Dave replied with earthly pride.

Somewhere within this yammering tale, Content Dave guides us through a few health, healing and longevity practices, and explores a little, not a lot, of consciousness along the way. His sage-like friend is along for the ride to review his attempts and to bring him back down to earth during the more ambitious of his enterprises.

If you’ve time for a quick one, pull up a stool and join Content Dave and Guru George in a pub in the afterlife as the sage reviews his friend's tales, questions his theories, and mocks his tail-chasing search for contentment whilst sympathising for any potential reader lured in by such waffle.

“How's that for a synopsis?” Content Dave asked eagerly as Guru George scanned the cluster of words hopefully thrown together with the intention of intriguing a reader or two.

“You should tell the reader they’ll be better off distancing themselves from this book. One should always spare their mind from the reading of such trifle* and simply savour life.” Guru George stated with sagely sincerity.

“Well, that'll kill off my chances of becoming an influencer. Come on, give me something I can work with.” Content Dave prefers when his friend shares some otherworldly wisdom that might just help him to help others.

“Tell them they’ll find all the answers they need in nature and they should simply live in harmony with this powerful source; and that this self-help waffle will only obscure this connection.” Guru George's honest critique continued.

“I'll do just that.” Content Dave’s mind was far from a scholarly sponge capable of recalling the wisdom his friend shared; thus, their discussions are transcribed throughout this tale.

*Trifle is a layered dessert made with a sponge base followed by fruits, jelly, cream and custard. Content Dave would cherish this culinary classic when his grandmother lovingly made it and added a few too many drops of sherry into the cheerful concoction. However, the term ‘trifle’ is used above as an adjective to describe the needless contents of little value within this tale as well as to provide an example of the excessive use of footnotes... You, dear reader, have a natural world to embrace. This book may on one level offer the fruits of one man’s search for wisdom; but, as with anything that is disconnected from the simplicity of our source, it fails to replicate the great mother’s original recipe that was once guiltlessly embraced in a time when we lived in harmony with nature.
